What ’til Wed - 5th to 7th of May
This week on What ‘til Wed we feature a couple of live acts who you might not be familiar with, or you might be expecting, and one that you’ll immediately want to scour the internet for tickets for. Holy Fuck are still hanging around since Groovin' the Moo, Arctic Monkeys have just arrived in the country, and Hugh Laurie is performing a show that you won’t expect.
Hugh Laurie – Monday – The State Theatre
English musician, actor, producer and writer Hugh Laurie will be coming out to Australia for his first performance in over 20 years. Rather than acting or comedy, Laurie will be performing with his band; the Copper Bottom Band. Expect an eclectic mix of blues, tango, Southern and South American music. Tickets available from www.ticketmaster.com.au/hugh-laurie
Arctic Monkeys – Tuesday – Sydney Entertainment Centre
Returning to Australia for the first time since 2011, British Rockers Arctic Monkeys return for an extensive run of tour dates in May. In the years since their debut, the band have received two Grammy Award nominations, five Brit Awards, headlined the iconic Glastonbury Festival twice and taken to the world stage in front of billions as part of the London Olympic Games opening ceremony. Tickets may still be available from http://premier.ticketek.com.au/shows or by other less official means.
Holy Fuck – Wednesday – Goodgod Small Club
Fresh from touring the nation with Groovin’ the Moo, Canadian alternative group Holy Fuck turn their attention to an intimate show at Goodgod Small Club this Wednesday. Holy Fuck is a unique blend of instrumental and electronic sounds, and none of their tracks have any lyrics at all. They surprised audiences with their unique performative stylings when they supported Foals down under in 2011, so don’t miss out on a better-than-everyday experience like Holy Fuck.
