What ‘til Wed – 23rd to 25th June
Yes, there have been a few drips and drops of rain here and there over the past week or so, but the sunshine we’ve had this weekend indicates a change for the better in terms of weather. There’s so much to get your head around early this week, so here are my top 3 picks to get you through to hump day this week.
Sohn – Oxford Art Factory – Tuesday
After producing tracks for the likes of Kwabs and Banks and releasing a handful of acclaimed singles of his own, SOHN - real name Christopher Taylor - released one of the most highly anticipated albums of the year in his debut Tremors. Tremors finds the perfect balance between London's buzzing hubbub and Vienna's serene and calming backdrop in eleven hypnotic tracks including lead single 'Artifice'. Paces – World Bar – Wednesday
Paces is the textbook definition of good vibes. His eclectic mix of future beats/garage/jersey club has allowed him to feature and support on triple J and was named by inthemix.com as 'an artist set to own 2014'. He will be down at World Bar this Wednesday, and will be supported by Hydraulix and Korky Buchek.
Sophie Hanlon – The Vanguard – Wednesday
Sophie Hanlon has been surrounded by music her whole life, and is now based in Sydney after spending much of her childhood in the UK. She has also just completed her debut album Chemical Girlfriend, and is now a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition for her track My Dark Crusade. Catch her this Wednesday at the Vanguard. Tickets at http://www.thevanguard.com.au/shows/2014/06/25/sophie-hanlon/12306
