Redux – Black Eye Gallery – Monday
Monday the 23rd of December is the final day of an incredible exhibition of selected works by Sydney photographic crew The Pool Collective. The exhibition has been running in celebration of the launch of the 5th issue of The Pool Collective’s quarterly iPad magazine. A wide range of photo features, short film, interviews and music make up one of the most creative photographic exhibitions going around at the moment. John Glover – Tuesday – The Greengate
The biggest and most well-known Christmas Eve celebrations on the North Shore are on again at the Greengate this year. This year’s festivities feature a plethora of talented DJ’s including John Glover, Nukewood, and Uberjak’d, with doors opening and 11am this year and the party going all the way through till midnight. Ben Ashton – Wednesday – Goldfish
The guys at Goldfish have decided that Christmas night is going to be anything but a silent night this year, as they present a gig night called 12:01. The concert is named after the time when the doors open, and Goldfish have enlisted Ben Ashton to headline the gig. Ben Knott (UK), Rickstar and Garry Todd will join Ashton long into the early hours of Christmas morning. Entry is free!
Karaoke – Monday – Tokyo Sing Song
If you’re not a fan of Christmas itself, or if you’re just sick of capitalist gift economies being shoved in your face, I have a solution for your 25th of December. Tokyo Sing Song in Newtown provides an escape via late-night Japanese themed entertainment and karaoke singing. Hosted by drag queen Aaron Manahan and four-foot-tall comedian Imaan Hadchiti, Karaoke at Tokyo Sing Song is one of Sydney’s newest and most innovative weekly event nights. Entry is free.
