Bart Thrupp – Kelly’s On King
Brisbane based singer-songwriter Bart Thrupp is touring the country this October to celebrate the release of his brand new EP Monkey King. Described as energetic, genuine and undeniably Australian, Bart Thrupp’s enthusiasm for life and for music is contagious. He’s proved popular with festival crowds having performed at Byron Bay Bluesfest, Caloundra Music Festival and the Flower Food and Wine Festival, and with a slew of local competitions under his belt Bart sang his way to the national finals of the Telstra Road to Discovery Competition. He’s gracing Kelly’s on King this Monday with a host of other talented musicians, and entry is free.
The Money Go Round – Beach Road Hotel
The Money Go Round put a modern spin on 60s and 70s psychedelic and surf rock. Their sound delves into punk and hard rock but always manages to remain extremely catchy. Having supported bands like Papa Vs Pretty, the Snowdroppers, Kingswood and The Griswalds, and with the recent release of their brand new video for hot single ‘Endless Sun’, The Money Go Round are achieving incredible success at the moment. You can catch them at the Beach Road Hotel this Monday night in Bondi.
Fresh Sounds Tuesdays – Dome Lounge
Recently voted Sydney’s best Jazz venue and with weekly Jazz Burlesque and more, Dome in Surry Dome presents ‘Fresh Sounds’. Fresh Sounds is now a regular Tuesday Night series presenting original projects from Sydney's finest established and up-and-coming talent. From traditional to mainstream to modern - every week you can expect to hear some exciting, new sounds, and this week Sydney rock band The Moods are gracing the lounge. Entry is $10 and doors are open from 6pm.
Converge Jazz Festival – Sydney University Verge Dome
After last year’s success, the Converge Festival is back on as part of the Verge Festival at Sydney Uni, and is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever. The event is a three day showcase of legendary names in jazz and blues, rubbing shoulders with emerging and young Australian jazz musicians. The program for the Tuesday night reflects the broadening of the contemporary jazz music scene; incorporating funk, soul, big band and jazz-fusion sounds. The performance will be led by student groups from the Con who are studying jazz. Entry is free.
Date Night: The Relationship Show – Opera House
This Wednesday join a group of romantically dysfunctional comedians led by Peter Helliar for an evening of hilarious stand-up comedy covering the awkward complexities of love, relationships and everything else in between. Special Guest Greg Behrendt, author of the best selling book He's Just Not That Into You, joins Australia's own Felicity Ward, rising American stand up star Ryan Hamilton and "Single Awkward Female" Debra DiGiovanni as they explore the craziness of human coupling and leave no embarrassing story untold!
