The Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival Sydney
Backyard Opera was invited to the opening night of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival Sydney. We sent our most fashionable team member along to get the low down on what’s coming up.
With the calm before the storm that is Global Fashion Week season, it’s easy to forget the immense talent we have in our own backyard. This talent was showcased last night when Town Hall came alive as the fashion elite of Sydney gathered for the opening night of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival. The gala event was offered to the media to showcase a handful of pieces from Australia’s most prominent designers, including Alex Perry, Michael Lo Sordo and Camilla and Marc.
The show was opened by personal favourite Romance Was Born, who yet again brought to life their surreal parallel universe of colour and shapes, and was closed magnificently with the stunning ball gowns of Maticevski. Highlights included the perfect white geometric shapes of HAN, the neutral tones of Woolmark Prize winning Christopher Esber and the clean tailored modern silhouettes of Camilla and Marc. The night was a perfect reminder of the growing place Australian design has in an international Fashion industry and market.
The Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival Sydney is running until this Saturday, and you can get tickets to all the events at www.mbffsydney.com.au
