Sydney’s Top 5 Beer Gardens
By Rosie Stevens
Day light savings is upon us once again. Whilst this means an hours less sleep and the hindering of many a well-intentioned early workout due to darker mornings, it also means longer, lighter nights, inviting you to pull up a pew with your pals and while away the warmer evenings with a cold beer in hand. Find the perfect place to unwind, as we present to you BYO’s top 5 Sydney Beer Gardens:
An real winner - big and social, the Beresford is an absolute go-to of Sydney beer spots. The proud host of Bero’clock; which offers $6 wines, spirits and pints (yes, PINTS) of beer between 6pm and 8pm every day. Try Beresford Sundays in the beer garden, because correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m not sure that there’s any better way to end the weekend than with chilled vibes, beer, and your crew. Plus, who doesn’t love a hanging lantern?
One of Newtown’s biggest and definitely it’s best. Take your sunnies and soak up the Saturday afternoon sun down at the Courty with jugs of beer, huge plates of pub grub, and a guarantee of interesting people watching opportunities. Once you get there though, don’t be leavin yo table unattended, this place gets seriously busy, so either get in there early or be willing to hang around like a hypochondriac in an emergency room, at the end of people’s tables ready to pounce.
The Rose Hotel:
Awesome pizzas + schooners of the good stuff + a big, friendly beer garden = a recipe for success. This is the Rose in a nutshell, and what a great nutshell to find yourself in. Especially on a Saturday evening with a DJ in the beer garden from 7pm, pizzas that are their self proclaimed ‘crowning glory’, and jugs of beer specials all day every day. Hear hear.
Bondi Bucket List:
This spot should be on everyone’s list, the setting is a summer scene in itself. Right on Bondi Beach, the Bucket List has a funky, eclectic vibe that is just perfect for your quintessential start-of-summer instagram beer shot. You know the one I mean, with a beer in one corner of the picture and the scenic beach taking up the rest of it? Yeah that one. So throw on your mandatory Bondi uniform of work-out-clothes-when-you’re-not-working-out, get down there, and get hashtagging in one of Sydney’s most popular hangouts.
A gem of a beer garden nestled in the heart of Surry Hills, the Norfolk has character – a perfect place to get cosy on their stripy seats. With a relaxed atmosphere, great cocktails and awesome food specials including $10 steaks on a Wednesday and $12 burgers on a Thursday, what’s not to dig? May as well take a tent and camp overnight.
No need to thank! Enjoy.
