Soul of Sydney Disco Funk Block Party
If you usually associate Sundays with hangovers, housework and general misery then you're doing it all wrong, but don't worry, the folks at Soul of Sydney are here to show you the light. This time the Sydney based collective brought their block party to the Greenwood Hotel courtyard, the surrounding skyscrapers were a perfect backdrop for the urban oasis.
Local DJS Simon Caldwell and Phil Toke started things off before Detroit native and godfather of gospel house Terrence Parker took to the decks to deliver a solid afternoon of soul, funk and disco to the energetic crowd (cue flashmob that looked so fun it left even the most unfortunate dancers amongst us wanting to join).
Leave your stereotypes at the door because as far as crowds go, this was an interesting one that could only be described as a 'mixed-bag'. Young and old, from all walks of life gathered, the only common denominator being the beaming smiles and positivity radiating from their faces. It was an afternoon of vibes so good the impending monday morning blues were the last thing on anybody’s mind.”
