More on the photographers.
“BYO’s Residential photographer Charlie Hardy has been collaborating alongside his good mate Nathan Dawes for a photographic exhibition which will be taking place in Newcastle. The exhibition entitled 'RAW' has come about naturally with their practice and development of concepts.
Newcastle based photographer Nathan Dawes, a Lake Macquarie resident, creates simplicity in his photographs of urban lake surrounds and coastal landscapes. Nathan's passion, whilst chasing sunrises and sunsets, is also the study of architecture at The University of Newcastle. Over the past year Nathan has developed further technical skills in architecture, enabling him to use these elements when capturing the environments urban landscapes. Nathan’s growing collection of work’s demonstrate how the study of architecture has contributed to his versatility and artistic skills.
Whilst Nathan bases his photography on his glorious life encounters, Charlie has been documenting the unique power of the ocean as he explores the various shapes and perspectives within mother nature. Charlie encapsulates the environment around him, capturing the refreshing take on nature through his work in both the water and on land. Whilst his landscape work leaves the audience contemplating different forms and shapes, Charlie upholds a unique and distinct character and disposition through his photography. His further studies into the technique of drawing empower his photography, his photos embracing this framework for thought provocation.
Charlies recent documentation of the water explores the various unpredictability’s of mother nature and the environment, yet asserts abstract qualities. In essence, Charlie’s visualization of the environment provokes thought and questions the elements of ambiance itself. His clever eye enhances the daily viewers perspective of a juxtaposed world. Süko Gallery is the result of a crafted idea, whereby local Novacastrian artists are invited to voice their expression through exhibition, in a clean, simple and sophisticated space.
