OutsideIn announces first round line up for 2015
OUTSIDEIN AT SYDNEY’S MANNING HOUSE RETURNS ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2015. FIRST ROUND LINE UP INCLUDES: BILAL, BIG K.R.I.T, DEVIN THE DUDE, COSMO’S MIDNIGHT, STAR SLINGER, POMO, TOTAL GIOVANNI, PENDER STREET STEPPERS, KUCKA & HARVEY SUTHERLAND
OVER 20 INTERNATIONAL AND LOCAL ARTISTS STILL TO BE ANNOUNCED…
Following the announcement of OutsideIn’s triumphant return this year to Sydney's Manning House, Astral People and Yes Please are proud to present the eclectic first round line-up to the fourth edition of one of Sydney’s favourite boutique music festivals.
For the past three years OutsideIn have delivered carefully curated line-ups comprising some of the finest purveyors of house, techno, hip hop and electronica. 2015 promises to build on this, revealing Bilal as this year’s first act.
Festival-goers will revel in the neo-soul stylings of Philadelphia native Bilal, who will bring his expressive vocals and multidimensional sound accompanied by a full 8-piece band to the OutsideIn main stage. The Philly crooner’s collaboration efforts include the likes of Common, Erykah Badu, Dilla & Kendrick Lamar. Fans can get a taste of what's to come with the release of Bilal's fourth studio album ‘In Another Life’ out today.
The hip hop contingent of OutsideIn this year is a shout out to the genre’s past and present. We welcome the debut Australian performances of none other than Southern Rap's finest and frequent collaborators Big K.R.I.T and Devin The Dude. To state that each of these performances will come with their very own wild onstage antics is an understatement – all bets are off with these two.
For the electronic music aficionados OutsideIn offers the one-man beat machine otherwise known as Star Slinger. The Manchester based producer and DJ, set to release his next EP over the next coming months, is renowned for his blissful and uplifting productions that chop and dice everything from distant Motown hooks to rock classics.
Direct from Vancouver there is Pomo, a multi-instrumentalist producer renowned for his ability to allure listeners with the malleable dynamics of his music. We’re also thrilled to announce Pender Street Steppers aka Jack J & Liam Butler. The Mood Hut co-founders will provide a mix of shady grooves, jazzed soul and laid-back yet progressive leaning melodies. We can safely say that no two newcomers better represent the wide spectrum of sounds coming from Canadian dance-floors.
OutsideIn is a strong supporter of Australian acts, we believe they have just as much to offer as their international contemporaries and consider them ‘headliners’ in their own right.
This year’s lineup will deliver a solid local component, continuing to back the burgeoning Australian electronic music scene, with some of the country’s most exciting artists.
First up, Sydney’s favourite twins Cosmo’s Midnight will make their hometown-live-set- debut, which promises to be an immersive visual-feast. We then bring you the one and only full body experience that is otherwise known as Total Giovanni. Be there to witness.
Keeping it local, Perth’s electronic pop enigma KUČKA will undoubtedly seduce all who cross her path with her unique blend of forward-thinking electronic pop. Recently being invited to take part in this year's Red Bull Music Academy in Paris and being named in the Top Five Under-The-Radar Australian bands by the UK’s The Guardian, this is one not to be missed. In final, there will be an improvisational show from Melbourne’s Harvey Sutherland, which will be equal parts 808 rattle and double disco.
Together, Astral People and record label, Yes Please have handpicked the futuristic, progressive sounds of each OutsideIn event. The event consistently showcases interesting and diverse music at an accessible price. With over 20 international and local artists still to be announced, we hope you enjoy the first taste of this year’s
OutsideIn and look forward to presenting the rest of the bill over the coming weeks.
