MBFWA 2014 Runway – The BYO Edit #1
As Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia 2014 offers up the latest collections from some of our favourite Australian Designers this week, we pick out our top looks hot off the runway for Spring/ Summer 2014.
Undoubtedly Kym Ellery is a heavyweight in the Fashion game- and for good reason. Her latest collection showcases directional silhouettes, with immaculate detailing and innovative luxe fabric combinations. Her refined underlying signature theme of east meets west tailoring (Chic-Punk hair/beauty/styling not to go un-noted) we continue to enjoy watching Ellery evolve each season.
A name we have heard before and now one that will stay firmly on our minds as one to watch again. Her latest S/S 2014 collection titled “Mermaids Exist” is inspired by Disney’s Little Mermaid (soon to be revived in live action film by Sofia Coppola). As the name suggests the collection has a light ethereal feel with a whimsical edge. We love the graphic headwear, adding a whole new facet to this beautiful collection.
This label and the man behind it Johnny Schembri, always knows how to make an impact. The label is renowned amongst the cool fashion set for its statement -sexy yet ultra chic pieces. His latest collection does not disappoint. With bold colour blocking in elegant hourglass silhouettes, the collection has a strong art influence and will be strong statement look this summer.
Australian made label Kahlo is the go-to label for effortlessly cool pieces. Clean lines, modern tailoring in high quality Australian and European sourced fabrics, the labels aesthetic if perfect for the women who aren’t afraid to be understated yet still send a strong style message. Their latest collection offers up a myriad of simple shapes in bold sheens and metallic to pair back in any fashionistas wardrobe.
Stay tuned for more of our favorites hot off the runway this week.
