Chance Waters, Mind Over Matter, and Stories for Nothing graced the Standard on Friday evening to kick of Chance’s Infinity tour. What transpired was an evening of hip hop goodness!
We went along to catch the gig, and film an episode of BYO interview dominoes. Chance was kind enough to line up an interview with Willows and Smiles Again from Mind Over Matter, and so we did that before the show in some sketchy stairwell. We spent the rest of the pre-show kickin’ it in the green room, sipping tinnies, and watching the Mind Over Matter crew wrap their merchandise (which in hindsight we probably should of helped with, sorry guys!)
Stories for Nothing kicked off the opening set and absolutely rocked it, they even dropped covers from Nujabes and Dilla! These guys and girls are mad talented, you should definitely check them out when you get the chance. In fact even if you don’t get the chance, make the time to see them, you won’t be disappointed.
Next up and it was Mind Over Matter. Not only are these boys legends, they have mad skills and brought the rain as they tore the roof off the Standard. Killer rhymes, mad beats, and Dj Ntaprize scratching like a madman had the crowd going crazy! We can’t wait to see these guys again, I’ve got a feeling they have big things coming.
And last but certainly not least, the man of the hour Chance Waters. He and the band stepped up on stage to a very excited, packed out crowd. Chance dropped a vibing set which had people doing all sorts of crazy things. It was clear why he is currently killing it! Chance and the crew have musical talent for days and were awesome to watch. They topped off what was an awesome night and I have no doubt they’ll be leaving a lot of stoked punters behind for the rest of the tour.
Be sure to catch these guys on the Infinity tour which is happening now! Peace!
