‘My Element’ Photography Exhibition
Where: 24 April 6pm – 4 May
When: 10x8 Gallery, Level 3, Central Park
Bound by their shared love of hip-hop, five Sydney photographers are paying homage to some of the culture’s biggest names in their upcoming exhibition, My Element. Featuring photographs from both Australia’s local hip-hop scene and its motherland, the United States, these images are an insight into the lives of the performers both on and off the stage. In a world where images of hip-hop artists are almost ubiquitous in popular culture, My Element is a refreshing take on the norm with its candid content and unique portraiture.
Photographer Averie Harvey, who has shot the likes of Tyga, Danny Brown and Snoop Dogg, is joined by Tristan Stefan Edouard, a self-described photographer who ‘shuns the cliché’, and one whose work invokes a raw and spontaneous aura. Don’t forget to check out Chris Frape, a photographer who spends most of his time travelling between Wollongong and Sydney shooting musicians on the road, as well as photographer/cinematographer Steven Guzman, and last but not least, Bradley Scott.
Come down and support some of our city’s local artists on the launch nigh; and if you’re still unconvinced, free burritos will be provided.
