L D R U & Yahtzel officially combine forces as “Carmada"
By Zanda Wilson
Australia’s electronic music scene is booming at the moment, with an absolute plethora of up-and-coming artists making waves both nation-wide and internationally. Drew Carmody (L D R U) and Max Armata (Yahtzel) are two of the latest young artists to make names for themselves in the last year or so off the back of a few killer singles and a bunch of awesome shows across the country.
Individually, L D R U and Yahtzel have really tapped into an emerging genre of tropical, future bass/trap music. Earlier this year, we heard the first taste of what a culmination of the immense talent of these two sounds like, with the boys releasing their first joint single “The Only One” on the Future Classic label.
It became apparent after two sensational sets at Splendour In The Grass this year that L D R U and Yahtzel’s relationship was no unremarkable DJ collaboration. The guys seem to have the sort of intangible understanding whilst performing live together that you most often see from rock bands that have been touring and playing together for years.
Unsurprisingly then, Carmody and Armata have now officially announced their first single as an official duo. They’re calling themselves Carmada, and have just dropped a teaser trailer for their first single “Maybe”.
Carmada will make their first official live debut as a duo at this year’s Stereosonic music festival, and have also announced that their debut EP “Realise” will be coming out in October this year. You can pre-order “Realise” here: https://itunes.apple.com/au/album/realise-ep/id913830933
