Field Day 2014
Once upon a time the thought of going to a festival on New Years day sounded crazy… That was until I actually did it. As it turns out it is a fantastic idea, and given the massive attendance at Field Day 2014 a whole lot of people agree. Upon entering Field Day one thing I noticed immediately was the fun vibes floating through the air. The celebratory giddiness of the night before was still well and truly alive and people were reveling in it. I arrived just in time to catch the Flight Facilities 90’s tribute set, but unfortunately spent most of it in the drink line; ah yes, festivals…
From there I made my way into the crowd, camera in hand, it was time to do what I enjoy most at festivals and mingle with the punters… One thing I find interesting about festival settings is that generally, people choose to put the bullshit aside for the day and have fun together. It’s a special thing, and weird things tend to happen, weird things that I like to photograph.
Of course I could tell you about all the amazing acts and how much I enjoyed them, or how well Fuzzy curated the festival and how incredible the location was but I’m not going to; that much is obvious enough to the informed individual. The music is just one part of the greater whole that makes a festival great, and Fuzzy appear to have well and truly figured that out.
I’m going to let the photos do the talking. Enjoy the weirdness, there is a little bit in every photo if you look closely enough... See you at Field Day 2015. Oh and one last thing, HERMITUDE.
