Electronic producer Meare is blooming
Electronic producer, Meare, has just dropped his latest remix, Bloom, which sees a cool mix of poppy melodies under a heavy bass and electro beat. We talk to Sydney based Meare to find out about his new track, his music and his plans for the future.
Tell us a bit about your new remix track you’ve recently released and your vision for your music.
My new track is a remix of the song Bloom from Spoonty's latest EP Up Here, In the Future. Spoonty hit up a bunch of really talented local producers to remix tracks off the EP, which will be released in a steady stream of goodness in the next few weeks. Look out for remixes from Kanyon, Moonbase Commander, Papertoy, This Mess and many others. For my track I definitely went in a very different direction to the original, but I think it still keeps a bit of the vibe Spoonty created. It's definitely been received really well so far, and even getting picked up on some international blogs.
Your new single incorporates different styles and sequences of electronic music, how would you describe your sound?
I'd describe my sound as a mix of more bass heavy genres like trap mixed with a more poppy melodic aesthetic. I'm a massive rap fanatic too which I think shows in my tunes a bit along with my love of RnB.
Who are some influences in your music?
My influences vary so widely it's ridiculous. Honestly, I think the stuff I listen to most at the moment though would be classic RnB like Keith Sweat, R Kelly, Silk, Jodeci etc. If I could sing I would no doubt be crooning the ladies of Australia with slow jams.
I also host a radio show that focuses purely on new rap tunes on www.bondibeachradio.com.au which airs every Monday night from 6-8PM so I definitely feel the influence from producers such as Block Beattaz, Mike Will, Zaytoven, etc which we play a lot of.
As far as electronic artists that influence me I’d have to give props to people like Rustie, Hudson Mohawke, LV, DJ Rashad, Bibio, etc. There are so many amazing producers at the moment though that I draw influence from.
What’s coming up for you on the music agenda over the next year?
At the moment I’m planning to release more singles and remixes and in the distant future release a 2nd EP hopefully. I have a bunch of gigs lined up, so keep an eye out for them and come check out my live show! I also am in the early stages of an RnB/Soul project which I’m collaborating on with a really talented singer named Danilo Reyes. So keep an ear out for that.
