‘We were only trying to talk about two people that were destined — two big dreamers who came together but were destined to come to a sad end..’
Such&Such Productions Presents COWBOY MOUTH by SAM SHEPARD
During the 70's Sam Shepard and Patti Smith locked themselves away and wrote a marvelous short play that would become a golden nugget reflecting the time and their personal relationship. Decades later the play's subject matter is still relevant and Such and Such Productions is reviving the play with their own interpretation of the text.
Cavale meets Slim. She promises to make him into a rock ‘n’roll star. He abandons his wife and child for her and his dream. They survive, barely on that dream and on Cavale’s stories and fantasies.
Weaving in and out of the real and the surreal, Sam Shepard’s ‘Cowboy Mouth’ sees Cavale and Slim waltz through time in a dream like state as they search for a saviour in which ever form possible. Through their own ideals and idioms they decipher what hopes to hold onto and which to let fly.
Have you ever woken up to your reality only to realise your dreams had subsided?
