BYO Beats #17
Mmmmmmmmmmm…everything from Basenji to The Bee Gees to Bomfunk MCs this week. BBE First Birthday @ Oxford Art Factory ft. Rustie w/ Basenji + Nightwave + Hatch + U-Khan (DJ), Thursday 17th of April
The husband and wife duo that makes up Brown Bear Entertainment (BBE) has had a formidable year. Touring acts the likes of Baauer, Ryan Hemsworth and Cyril Hahn to name just a few has been no mean feat, so to mark their successes, they are throwing a killer party at OAF this Thursday with Glaswegian Rustie headlining. He moves between R&B, trance, pop and hip hop effortlessly and with no regard for current trends adding a certain sincere appeal to his tunes. My big pick though, is support act Basenji who’s previous work in Pablo J and the Lobsterettes and current success on both Triple J and Triple J Unearthed radio with his upbeat tracks has made him a local favourite in a seriously short period of time. Tickets are running low so grab them here before it’s too late. http://www.moshtix.com.au/v2/event/rustie/70537 Hot Dub Time Machine @ The Metro w/ support from Furnace & The Fundamentals, Saturday 19th of April
If the name of this event isn’t enough to make you want to go, then it’s reputation should be. After the tour sold out across Europe and incredibly successful stints across the Australian festival circuit, the Hot Dub Time Machine tour is now headed to smaller venues to bring the party to the people. This club night will see DJ’s feature a veritable smorgasbord of music released over the last 60 years all accompanied by video displays, allowing us to move between Little Richard and Skrillex with ease and comfort. This is one to please everybody, so if you want to head down, grab your tickets here… http://premier.ticketek.com.au/shows/show.aspx?sh=HOTDUBTI14 The Rhythm of The Night: A 90s Party @ Goodgod ft.
