BYO Beats #14
Get loose this weekend with some disco, DnB and dancehall. Take Sunday off, you’ve earned it!
Sydney Pony Club Quarterly 02 – Kato/DJ Jungle Snake and more @ FBi Social, Friday March 28th
They nailed it the first time, and right when you think they may not have been partying with you again Sydney Pony Club have set up a killer night of music this Friday with diversity being the key. The headline acts of Kato and DJ JungleSnake are going to bring you plenty of that Hip-Hop/house vibe you love oh so much with flecks of disco, DnB and techno sneaking their way in. Someone you should also get excited for is Maximus. Sydney Pony Club Facebook page shared this track of his “Jungle Gym” which can best be described as George of the Jungle on ecstasy…trust me, it makes sense. The night will also feature Antoine Vice, MattRaD, Blowoutdj’s and Serfo. Tickets are available at the link below. Don’t miss out!
Bondi Beach Radio Presents Deep Grooves – Owen Howells (UK) + Andrew Wowk + Seher @ Beach Road Hotel, Saturday March 29th
Deep Grooves is one of the many nights presented by the iconic Bondi Beach Radio. Featuring regular DJ and local legend Andrew Wowk as well as British expat Owen Howells, the night will focus on the more experimental side of the electronic music scene, with a focus, of course, on all things deeeeeeeep. This remix from Howells provides a taste of what to expect. Warm, and complex in its rhythms, the track is calmly chaotic somehow. The gig is free, so head down to the beach for the day, and stumble into the beach road later on for a schooner and some killer tunes!
Dutty Dancing ft. Basslines + Nick Toth + Shantan Wantan Ichiban @ Goodgod Smallclub, Saturday March 29th ($5 pre midnight - $10 post midnight)
Bi-monthly just doesn’t seem regular enough for this killer night. If there’s anything better then the rhythms of the Caribbean than I don’t want to know about it (but if there actually is, you’d tell me right???). Guaranteed to get that booty bouncin’ and that rum flowing, Dutty Dancing is where I’d want to be late this Saturday. Featuring residents Bassline, Nick Toth and the champion of all champions, Shantan Wantan Ichiban, it is almost guaranteed that the danceteria will be packed out. This night also features the infamous DUTTY DANCE OFF! with the Goodgod website promising the prize of “…a 24 carat gold chain we stole from Shabba’s private collection and a cask of the finest vintage Dutty wine known to man”. If that ain’t a reason to get your ass down there I don’t know one. Make sure to get in there as early as possible for cheaper entry.
