What: "Sign Painters Screening"
When: Thursday 21st November, 6pm
Where: "The Standard", Level 3, 383 Bourke Street, Surry Hills
(tickets here: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/event/8685475491)
For all those who went to "The Tate" last night, you are all probably official sign enthusiasts by now. Continue the sign trend at "The Standard" tonight with a screening of "Sign Painters Movie". The 80 minute documentary is directed by Faythe Levine and Sam Macon who explore the craftsmanship behind sign painting. The film features stories of more than two dozen sign painters working throughout the US. With works ranging from San Francisco's new bohemia signs to New York's sky high murals, this film is an awesome exploration into the art form of sign painting and its place in everyday life.
What: "Northern Exposure"
When: Friday 24th November, 6pm
Where: "aMBUSH Gallery", 4A James Street, Waterloo
What do you think of with the words bogans, tropical vistas, state of origin and Steve Irwin's death? If it's something along the lines of Queensland, then one gold star for you. However, come down to "Northern Exposure" tonight to see a less stereotypical view of Queensland. This group exhibition explores all things not crocodile related from the brutality of Queensland's hip-hop community to Queensland's every changing multicultural population. The Veggie Patch Van food truck will also be serving snacks on the night, so get down early to avoid an empty stomach!
