Now over halfway into Art Month Sydney, you’ve probably been gallery hopping galore! So far we’ve been spoilt with so many awesome exhibitions in Sydney’s art spaces. This week however, Art Month is mixing it up a bit to see the fusion of Art with many other areas of expertise. Lucky we’ve got your schedule covered. Check it out here.
What: Visual Feasts: Luke Mangan in collaboration with Danks St Galleries
When: Wednesday 19th March, 7.30-10.30pm
Where: mojo by Luke Mangan, 8-10 Danks Street, Waterloo
Price: $110pp including canapés, three course meal and drinks
So Art Month has brought us a huge range of diverse collaborations with art and other expertise, but we’re deliciously excited for this one…. It’s art and food! Chef Luke Mangan and Danks St Galleries have teamed up to bring you a special gallery dinner. Beginning with canapés and then having a three-course dinner, Luke Mangan will respond to a different artwork for each course.
What: SFS Arts/Film/Music Popup
When: Thursday 20th March, 6pm-10pm
Where: 140 George Street, Sydney
Already getting excited for the weekend? Well get a kick-start with the perfect combination of art, music and drinks! Head down to the rocks for the SFS popup bar, only open until Saturday. Thursday features a photography exhibition with live music and drinks, Friday brings you a music video competition and the final day social Saturday with art and live music. Providing such a diverse range of options, we’re sure the popup has something to tickle your fancy!
What: Weave In, Weave Out
When: Friday 21st March, 6-8pm
Where: Object Gallery, 417 Bourke Street, Surry Hills
As part of Art at Night: East Sydney/Darlinghurst, head down to Object after hours to see the New Weave exhibition. Object is renowned for being Australia’s leading centre for contemporary design and plays a significant role in building a design culture. Be sure to check out Vincent Buret’s intricate accumulative Sculpting Lines installation and also have a chat to assistant curator Carrie Mulford!
What: Sydney Street Art Live Sessions
When: Saturday 22nd March, 1-3pm
Where: Bondi Beach Skate Park
On a beautiful sunny Saturday, were sure we’d find most of you down at the beach. Well if you’re headed to Bondi, be sure to check out some live art happening! Sydney Street Art Project have teamed up with Art Month to give you the opportunity to see a live street art session by four local artists; Apeseven, SMC, The Ox and Trait.
What: Screen Dreams 2: Artists on Cinematic Influence
When: Sunday 23rd March, 6-9pm
Where: Paramount House, 80 Commonwealth Street, Surry Hills
After a huge success last week, Screen Dreams is back with Heath Franco presenting cult favourite, Pulp Fiction. Working predominantly in video, Franco is known for his nostalgic visions and haunting personas of suburban life in Australia. Franco presents modern classic, Pulp Fiction and its influences on his artist practice.
