When: Monday 30th December, 10-5pm
Where: "State Library of New South Wales", Macquarie St, Sydney
When you think of libraries, are you just reminded of the many tedious hours spent studying for exams there? Well despite being one of the most beautiful libraries ever, the State Library has undergone some artistic touches as part of their "Born to Concrete" show. This exhibition explores the relationship between art and literature that takes many forms such as printmaking, typography, sculpture, found objects and more. The works of vibrant local publishing artists and poets can be found in various unexpected places around the library. Studying or not studying, these hidden concrete delights are bound to make your trip to the library a whole lot more exciting!
What: Serve the People
When: Tuesday 31st December, 10-6pm
Where: "White Rabbit Gallery", 30 Balfour St, Chippendale
Know that horrible feeling of missing out on an awesome event? Well that's why we're bringing you the FINAL call to see "Serve the People" at White Rabbit Gallery for 2013. This exhibition is an amazing opportunity to view a diverse range of contemporary Chinese art, that demonstrate the radical shift from art as a means of propaganda to a tool of expression. "Serve the People" is curated by Edmund Capon (previous director of the AGNSW), who explores the fear, anarchy and hope evident in Chinese society and culture over the last half-century. Your friends will probably be talking about this for a week, so don't miss out!
WEDNESDAY: PUBLIC HOLIDAY (Galleries closed)
