Behind the Scenes: Bless’ed Are The Meek Winter Lookbook
Last week Backyard Opera popped into Sun Studios to scope behind the scenes for Aussie label Bless’ed Are The Meek’s Winter Lookbook shoot. It was modelled by the always-lovely Leila Goldkuhl, shot by Michael Naumoff and styled by Hayley Bonham, with hair by Dianne Gorgievski and makeup by Nadine Monely. Bless’d Are The Meek is a continually growing label which has reached great heights since beginning in Melbourne in 2003, including a move to Sydney in 2009 and critically acclaimed shows at MBFWA.
The Winter collection is sure to cement the brands popularity, with a wide variety of beautiful, accessible pieces that the label’s growing audience is sure to love. Including beautiful indigo pieces, white silhouette dresses and intricate patterning, the collection cements the role of Sydney designers and labels as relevant for a local and global fashion community.
Between looks we grabbed Leila Goldkuhl to have a quick catch up, we last saw her about 2 months ago when she’d just stepped foot onto Australian soil, so we got the low down on how she’s liking Sydney now. “I love Australia, I really don’t want to leave” Goldkuhl tells us as she simultaneously has her hair and makeup adjusted and poses for several Instagram shots, “but I’ve worked every day since I got here… so I haven’t got to enjoy the weather or go out much”. With a full-on work schedule that has included shoots for Russh and Oyster, its no wonder Goldkuhl wants to take some down time to enjoy Sydney life, “I’m meant to be leaving soon but I’m trying to extend it so I can stick around for a while, I’m not ready to leave yet”. It may not be that simple for the 21-year-old model, who is in high demand globally since her appearance on cycle 19 of America’s Next Top Model. I’m going to be greedy and say a little prayer that we can keep Leila for a little longer, Australia’s not ready to give her back and she can’t leave Bondi without having experienced a great Australian summer!
