Banks on my Brains
Up and coming artist BANKS has been making waves since she first hatched onto the scene with her brand of ghostly, mysterious music. This has had the effect of stoking our anticipation for her currently-in-the-works debut album, and even more so with each song she’s released (such as This Is What It Feels Like and Waiting Game).
Back in January the LA songstress dropped the sultry “Brain”, a track that premiered on KCRW and found BANKS working with producer Shlohmo. On “Brain”, the two are able to conjure a truly haunting arrangement, which builds towards a shadowy crescendo and releases her cool-as-a-cucumber-esque composure and a belting chorus.
In a teasing move, BANKS bestowed another sensual music video, directed by Kanye West collaborator Barnaby Roper, that provides an eerily beautiful visual compliment to the track’s amorphous nature. And just like her previous visual works, her new music video is surreal and electrifying, with a fervent performance from BANKS herself.
“Brain” was first released on her London EP, which is currently available, and includes production work from SOHN and Totally Enourmous Extinct Dinosaurs. BANKS’ full-length debut album is expected to drop later this year.
